Welcome to the Gaming & Leisure Association of Ireland (GLAI)
The Gaming and Leisure Association of Ireland is a non profit trade association established to represent the interests of its members around Ireland, both nationally and at EU level. The Association represents private members’ gaming clubs and online operators who provide casino-like services to their members.

David Stanton, T.D., Minister of State in the Department of Justice has announced plans for new legislation which will see the creation of an independent Gambling Authority, regulating gambling and gaming activities within the State. The Authority, which will be empowered to impose levies on licensed gambling facilities, will operate as in independent statutory authority, rather than an office. The gambling markets in Ireland and around the world are consistently evolving, particularly with the integration of online betting into the gambling entertainment industry. Here we will take a look at recent or pending legislation that is becoming a part of the regulatory framework of Irish gambling laws.
Casino Regulation and Casinos in Ireland: The casino sector in Ireland is currently not subject to regulation. The GLAI is committed to securing regulation for its members, by engaging with stakeholders, both public and private, who have a part to play in bringing about the regulation of the casino & gaming sector in Ireland. The GLAI also provides advice on best-practice as gleaned from other regulated jurisdictions.

Our aims are to secure regulation for private members’ gaming clubs, promote best practice in gaming in Ireland and assist members in the transition to a regulated environment while providing an identifiable voice for the casino sector.

7 years ago, today, on the 15th of July 2013, the Heads of the Gambling Control Bill were published by the Fine Gael-lead government. The Heads of Bill outline a progressive piece of legislation, which has the potential to put in place fit-for-purpose legislation and regulation of gambling in Ireland, as well as creating a 'Social Fund', which would provide financial supports for problem.
