Travel to the 2017 SSAFR Venue

Clearwater Resort

Suquamish, Washington

(Signs will say “Clearwater Casino Resort. The complex includes the casino on the upper level and the resort and hotel tower on the lower level.)

SSAFR 2017 will be held at the Clearwater Resort near Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from downtown Seattle.

Travel from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
The airport is about 30 miles from our meeting venue (includes water distance).
The Seattle ferry terminal (www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/) is located at Coleman Dock (801 Alaskan Way, Pier 52, Seattle, WA 98104) on the Seattle waterfront, about 15 miles south of the airport.

Below are four plans that will get you there. **we recommend plan A or B**

Important: plan about 2 hours total travel time from the airport to the Clearwater Resort.

Plan A: airport to ferry–>walk on ferry–>shuttle to resort

1. Sea-Tac airport to seattle ferry terminal (30-60 mins depending on transportation option) Ferry Terminal at Coleman Dock (801 Alaskan Way, Pier 52, Seattle, WA 98104) on the Seattle waterfront
2. Walk onto the the Bainbridge Island ferry (35 min ride – no extra wait time for ferry walk-on passengers) Make sure to catch the Bainbridge ferry since ferries go to two destinations from this terminal. Do NOT go to Bremerton.
3. Take the freeClearwater Casino shuttle from the Bainbridge Ferry terminal to the resort (20 mins). The shuttle information page mentions needing a “Players card” for the shuttle. This is not necessary for hotel and conference guests. Simply inform the shuttle driver that you are staying at the hotel.

Transportation options for getting from airport to ferry:

  1. Shuttle Express shared van: Sample fares: $30/one way/person; $26/one way/group of 3: www.shuttleexpress.com (800-487-7433), pick up 3rd floor Sea-Tac parking garage
  2. Taxi: estimated $45-$60 one-way, based on traffic
  3. For walkers and adventurers: Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail (~ $3 one way)

Plan B: taxi from airport–>walk on ferry–>rental car to hotel

1. Sea-Tac airport to seattle ferry terminal (30-60 mins depending on transportation option)
2. Walk onto the the Bainbridge Island ferry (35 min ride – no extra wait time for ferry walk-on passengers) Make sure to catch the Bainbridge ferry since ferries go to two destinations from this terminal. Do NOT go to Bremerton.
3. Rent a car on Bainbridge Island (rock rent-a-car)
4. Drive to the Clearwater Resort (20 mins)

(see transportation options above for getting from airport to ferry)

Plan C: Rental from airport–>drive on ferry–>drive to hotel

Clearwater

1. Rental car at the airport, drive to Seattle ferry terminal (30 mins)
2. Drive onto the Bainbridge Island ferry (35 min ride – but wait time for vehicles can vary) Make sure to catch the Bainbridge ferry since ferries go to two destinations from this terminal. Do NOT go to Bremerton.
3. Drive to the Clearwater Resort (20 mins)

***Warning: you can get stuck waiting over an hourto get a car onto the ferry on summer days – especially the weekends…if you choose this option, plan on the needed extra time. Vehicle fares for the ferry are substantially more than walk-on fares.

Bainbridge Island Ferry To Clearwater Casinos

Plan D: Rental from airport & drive the long way (no ferry)

Bainbridge

1. Rent a car at the airport & drive directly to the Clearwater Resort via i-5 & wa-16 (75 miles, 2 hours, but highly variable time depending on traffic…which can be bad on weekends)

Bainbridge Island Ferry To Clearwater Casino Resort

***We recommendplan A or Bfor the following reasons***

Bainbridge Island Ferry To Clearwater Casino

  • No need to rent a car.
  • If you choose to rent a car, we recommend doing so on Bainbridge Island (Rock Rent-a-car), because driving onto ferries can get very busy in the summer (wait times can be 1 to 2 hours)
  • Walking onto the ferry is no problem and no advanced reservations are required. Walk-on (pedestrian) fares are much lower than vehicle fares. The shuttles and rental cars on Bainbridge Island are conveniently located at the ferry terminal.
